HouseCheck uses moisture meters to diagnose damp

Moisture meter

Moisture meters are an important tool in the HouseCheck inspector’s kit. During a recent inspection one of our inspectors observed that rain water was penetrating through the opening between the meter box and the plastered wall and had run down the conduit, causing the plug that was located on the opposite side of the wall to become damp. The inspector noticed that the plug had some rust marks on the cover plate. Using the moisture meter the inspector detected that the moisture content around the plug was 90 per cent wet. This is an extremely dangerous situation and could have led to serious injury or even death.

HouseCheck inspectors routinely use moisture meters to diagnose the probable cause of damp-damaged walls and ceilings.
